COFFEE ISLAND’S Gift Card Program: Terms of Use


Coffee Island’s gift card program ("Program") is operated by Specialty North ( "we" or "us"),  a company incorporated and registered in Canada with incorporation number 002517865 , whose registered office is at  3800 Steeles Avenue west suite 300 Toronto. These Terms of Use govern the relationship between us and you in respect of your access to, and participation in the Program and the usage of your Coffee Island Gift Card (“Card”). Use of Card will constitute acceptance by you of this Terms of Use .

Joining the Program

This program is not targeted towards, nor intended for use by, anyone under the age of 18. To enroll in our Program, you must first collect a physical Loyalty Card . Cards are available for free in our coffee store ( “Store“ ) in Toronto ( 925 Bay St, Toronto, ON M5S 3L4, Canada) and are activated at the time of  first purchase . The activation process may require that you provide to our baristas the following information: first and last name , birthday , e-mail address and gender. Your Card can only be activated in the name of an individual and only one . Card is issued by, and remains the property at all times of  Us.

Using your Card

Cards are preloaded with certain dollar values (10, 25 & 50 CAD) and may be used as a prepayment only at the Store and any other participating Coffee Island  store in the future. When you use your Card, the amount of your purchase will be deducted from the balance on the card. The remaining balance may be applied to any future purchases. Change and refunds will not be given for the purchase of a Card.

Any Gift Card may also be used as a loyalty card. You cannot earn loyalty flowers when you purchase a Gift Card. For further details please refer to the Coffee Island’s  Loyalty Card Reward Program Terms of Use.

Expiry and Termination

We reserve the right to terminate your participation in our Program if you don't use your  Card for twelve (12) consecutive months ,or if we believe that you have engaged in fraudulent or unlawful activity relating to us or failed to comply with these Terms of Use.

Loss, theft, damage

We are not held responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen Cards. If your Card is lost , stolen or damaged , you can ask for a replacement Card at our Store. Every endeavour will be made to ensure that that the full  balance stored on the Card is also transferred to the new card ; however, we will not be responsible for any balance that is lost in the transfer. Cards that are reported as lost or stolen will immediately be cancelled and will be no longer able to be used. We reserve the right to charge a replacement Card fee for each replacement Card in the event that you are issued with more than 2 replacement Cards within any 6 month period.

Cancelation and Termination of Program

We reserve the right to cancel, terminate, or suspend the Program at any time in our sole discretion, upon reasonable notice. Upon cancellation, termination or suspension of the Program, the available balance in your Card shall expire immediately.


To the extent permitted by law, we may amend these Terms of Use at any time by posting updated or revised Terms of Use at ("Amendment"). Please check frequently for any updates or revisions to these Terms. Unless otherwise indicated by us, any Amendments shall apply to any transactions occurring on or after the effective date of the Amendments. Using the Card after the effective date of any Amendment shall confirm that you agree to the Amendment.

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy must be read in conjunction with these Terms of Use.

The Privacy Policy will apply whenever you provide us with personal information.

 The certain personal  information you may provide to us , including your first and last name, e-mail address, birth date and gender could reasonably be used by us as permitted by and in accordance with applicable data protection law, to : (i)  identify you and enable you to use your card ; (ii) send promotional and marketing communications to you regarding us and our products and services; (iii) data share with our affiliates , business partners and market research companies to conduct market research and analysis about our Store and service on our behalf; (iv) send newsletters , updates and e‐mails; (v) create personalized content, offers, services, and advertising; (vi)  support any other intended purpose stated at the time at which your information is collected, subject to any preferences which you may have indicated; (vii) prevent fraudulent transactions and theft;  and (viii) comply with applicable law, governmental request, court order, or otherwise protect the rights, property, or safety of us or others.

By participating to our Program  you acknowledge and consent to us using your information in those limited circumstances and for the purposes described.

Data Security

We maintain strict security protocols, including physical, electronic and procedural safeguards, to protect Customer Information. These protocols include compliance with the requirements of the applicable law to prevent any loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure or destruction of your personal information. Although we strive to maintain data security, we do not guarantee or warrant its security.


Our liability to you in relation to these Terms of Use shall under no circumstances exceed the final balance held on your Card. Coffee Island shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from or in connection to use of Card , outside of reasonable control, including but not limited to, failure of network services and failure of data processing systems. We reserve the right to refuse to accept a  Card or to limit the use of a Card which it deems to have been tampered with, duplicated, damaged or which otherwise is suspected to be affected by fraud, misconduct or unauthorised use. We may , at our sole discretion , withdraw or cancel your  Card or take any other action it may deem appropriate if it suspects fraud, misconduct or unauthorised use of your Card. The Card shall become invalid once cancelled and you will not be able to redeem the balance on your Card.

Your rights as a consumer

Nothing in this Agreement will affect your legal rights as a consumer.

Applicable Law

These Terms shall be governed in all respects by the laws of Ontario.
